At the next Salone del Mobile we will be presenting a number of historic pieces alongside some new items designed today by designers of the past: the aim is to demonstrate how the perception of marble has changed over the years whilst continuing to offer ideas and creative suggestions to the top designers of our time.  To show that any shape is possible with marble.

Up&Up was created in 1969 and straight away marble acquired new shapes, was put to different uses and became the material of choice for the top architects who worked it and transformed it into objects, furnishings, bathroom fittings and precious marquetry… Subsequently the company evolved and grew, and, in 1979, Up&Up became a more complex entity with the UpGroup that is now one of the leading Italian companies dedicated to marble production and processing.  The company’s base could only be in Massa, in a land situated “halfway” between the blue of the sea and the white of the Apuan Alps with their extraordinary quarries where Michelangelo came to personally choose the best materials to work with.  With 72 employees including
craftsmen, quarrymen, qualified layers as well as architects, surveyors and designers, UpGroup has been able to maintain the balance between the reality of industry and the manual skills of the workshop.  Using its own quarries (in the Massa area, as well as abroad), over the years UpGroup has skillfully worked an ancient
material like marble to create fascinating and rounded shapes for a variety of objects including furnishing accessories, tables, bathroom fittings, fountains and garden benches.
