With the establishment of Up&Up in 1969, marble began to explore new forms and discover new applications. It became the material of choice for great designers, who transformed it into objects, furnishings and fittings, bathrooms, fine inlay work... Then, after a decade of development and growth, in 1979 Up&Up became UpGroup, a more complex reality which is today one of Italy’s leading producers of marble. Its headquarters? Where else but in Massa, midway between the blue sea and the white Apuan Alps, surrounded by the extraordinary quarries where Michelangelo came personally to select the finest marble for his masterpieces.
With 72 employees, craftsmen, quarrymen, marble masons, architects, draughtsmen and designers, UpGroup has successfully achieved a balance between industrial scale and the craftsman’s skilled hands.
Extracting marble from its own quarries in both the Massa area and worldwide, UpGroup carries on a tradition of transforming this antique material into finely sculpted household objects, tables, bathrooms, fountains, garden benches, fireplaces and fine inlaid flooring and cladding...
